Eagles seventh after first day of Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – After the first two rounds of the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate co-hosted by Wingate and Lincoln Memorial at the Country Club of Orange Park in Orange Park, Fla., the Carson-Newman men's golf team is currently in seventh-place.

The Eagles shot a combined 312 in the first round and followed up with a 314 in round two for a day one total of 626.

"I'm disappointed in my team's play today, particularly freshman Steven Hill. He received the unsportsmanlike conduct warning, which in golf, a gentleman's game, is unacceptable," coach Randy Wylie said. "He did not conduct himself in the manner required of a Carson-Newman athlete. We will play better, we will get better, most importantly, we will represent Carson-Newman in the manner in which we should."

Junior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) is the highest-placed Eagle with a two-round total of 152 and he sits in a four-way tie for 16th-place. Hall registered the team's lowest round of the day with a second round 74. He is eight-over after two rounds.

Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) is in three-way tie for 22nd-place after shooting an 11-over 155.

Junior Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario) is tied with two other golfers with a 14-over 158 and they are tied for 27th. He shot the team's low score in the first round with a round of 75.

Freshman Ben Kennard (Corryton, Tenn.) improved upon his first round score of 85 by improving and following up with an 80. He is in a two-way tie for 40th with a total of 165.

Freshman Steven Hill (Knoxville, Tenn.) is in a three-way tie for 45th with a score of 168. His low round of the day came in the first round with a score of 81.

West Georgia leads the tournament with a two-stroke lead over LMU. Carson-Newman is 22 strokes behind the Wolves. LMU's Braden Galyon and Montevallo's Dalton Skinner are tied for the individual lead at two-over 146.
