Hall named to All-Tournament team as Eagles finish 10th at SAC Championships

MARVIN, N.C. – The Carson-Newman men's golf team moved two spots up the leaderboard to finish the South Atlantic Conference Championships at Firethorne Country Club in Marvin, N.C. after shooting 10 strokes better during Tuesday's final round.

Junior Andrew Hall (Knoxville, Tenn.) recorded his second straight 75 to finish the tournament at six-over to finish tied for sixth and earned a spot on the SAC Championship's second team All-Tournament squad.

"We are proud of Andrew for his tie for sixth-place finish. Nick had a nice bounce-back round. Overall as a team, I am disappointed in our play at the conference championship," coach Randy Wylie said of this team.

Hall opened his round with a triple-bogey on the par-four 10th, but three birdies over the course of the next seven holes pushed him back to a score of two-over through his first nine holes of the day. Two bogeys and a birdie were scattered through the last nine holes for a score of one-over to finish the round at three-over.

Sophomore Dalton Reese (Warrenton, Ga.) improved his first round score by two strokes after shooting a 78 during the last 18 holes of the tournament. Reese carded three birdies during the round and shot two-over during his last nine holes. He finished tied for 34th.

Junior Nicklaus Kennedy (London, Ontario) rebounded from Monday's round of 87 with a three-over 75 during Tuesday's final round., which tied Hall for the Eagles' lowest-round of the tournament. Kennedy carded three birdies on the par-five 13th, par-five 17th and par-four 7th. His birdie on 7th allowed the junior to finish his front nine at even par.  His round also included 10 pars to finish the tournament at 18-over. He placed tied for 45th.

Junior Nathan Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) shot an 84 during Tuesday's round in a round that featured a birdie on the par-three 12th. Hodge finished tied for 53rd. He also added nine pars to the scorecard. Freshman Ben Kennard (Corryton, Tenn.) shot an 87 during the final round to end his first year on Mossy Creek. He finished 60th.

Tusculum won the team competition by two strokes over Wingate with a combined score of 597 for its first team title. The Pioneers' Nick Forsberg won the individual medal by three strokes over Wingate's Ben Gebhardt.
