Lady Eagles cancel North Georgia, postpone start of 2021

SAC Return to Play Protocols

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's basketball canceled its first game of 2021 at No. 16 North Georgia while postponing road affairs against Tusculum and Anderson due to Covid-19 management requirements consistent with the South Atlantic Conference. Reschedule dates for the games will be announced in the future.

Per SAC protocols updated in December found here, a positive test in the team's "inner bubble" prompts a quarantine until contact tracing and testing can be completed. Individuals with a positive test or a high-risk contact must quarantine for 14 days with a 3-5 day acclimatization period to follow.

The Lady Eagles will assess the situation in the coming days to determine when their next game will be played. Home games against Catawba on Jan. 13 and Lenoir-Rhyne on Jan. 16 are next up on the original schedule with a decision to be made in the future on the viability.

At the time of this writing, no Carson-Newman men's games are impacted and Chuck Benson's bunch will tip off at No. 24 Tusculum on Jan. 6 for the Orange and Blue.
