JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head women's soccer coach Simon Duffy has announced the signings of six freshman and two transfers for the 2020-21 season. These eight student-athletes will be able to see action on the pitch once Carson-Newman takes to the field this academic year.

"I'm really hopeful for what this next core group of new players can offer. The talent we have coming in plus the leadership we have returning leads to exciting times ahead in Mossy Creek," Duffy said. "We have a lot of goals and aspirations this year, none more than getting back to our winning ways after the result of last year and gaining back our silverware."  

Lilly Ebner – Hohentengen, Germany – Hochrhein Gymasium Waldshut-Tiengen – GK – 5'10

Prior to Carson-Newman: Led her team to become a Suedbaden Cup Semifinalist and a Suedbaden Futsal Cup Finalist. Team captain of youth club team. 

Personal: Daughter of Bettina Ebner. Intends to study Exercise Science at Carson-Newman. Was Valedictorian in high school. 

Kate Zander – Baneberry, Tenn – Lincoln Memorial – D – 5'5

Prior to Carson-Newman: Zander transfers in from Lincoln Memorial University where she gathered a total of 28 appearances with 24 starts while compiling four total shots on goal and one assist. An all-around athlete, Zander was also a member of the Railsplitters Track & Field team. While at LMU, she attained the LMU school record in indoor long jump and outdoor 4x400m relay, had a 3rd place finish at 2019 SAC Outdoor and Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 4x400m, and an 8th place finish at 2017 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 4x400m. 

High School: Zander was a dual athlete at Jefferson County high school, competing on both the track & field and soccer teams. 4-time Conference Champion in track & field and a 2x Conference Champion in soccer. Was named Soccer Team Captain her junior and senior year. Named the 2015 Women's Soccer MVP and 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-Region and Inter-Mountain Athletic Conference Midfielder of the Year. Named the 2014 Women's Soccer Offensive MVP and 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-Region. Holds the JCHS school record in 4x100m relay and came in with an 8th place finish at the 2016 TSSAA Track & Field State Championship in 4x100m relay. 

Personal: Daughter of Nancy and Gary Zander. Niece of former Cincinnati Bengals and University of Tennessee football star Carl Zander. Sister, Abbie, is a freshman on Carson-Newman this year. Intends to study and obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching, Secondary Education (Biology) at Carson-Newman.

Misha Wolters – Alphen aan den Rijn, Holland – Scala College– M – 5-7

High School: Played soccer at Scala College (Dutch High School).

Personal: Daughter of Harjen Wolters. Intends to major in Graphic Design at Carson-Newman.

Marta De Zanger – Barcelona, Spain – Jesus - Maria Sant Gervasi – F – 5-4

High School: Studied at Jesus - Maria Sant Gervasi in Barcelona. Dual-sport athlete, started playing tennis at age of 4, competing in 73 tournaments and championships between 2011 and 2015. Played indoor soccer at school and outdoor soccer for CE Europa and Terrassa FC. Started in a total of 40 soccer games, making a total of 71 appearances and scoring a total of 16 goals. Part of the 2017 Catalan League Subchampions.

Personal: Daughter of Kaj De Zanger and Veronica Torres. Intends to major in Exercise Science at Carson-Newman.

Carina Wüst – Wiesental, Germany – Theodor Heuss Gymnasium Schopfheim – F – 5-3

High School: Competed as part of the Woman Soccer FC Basel U17+U19 teams. 

Personal: Daughter of Christine Wüst and intends to major in Business Administration at Carson-Newman University. 

Savannah Fields – Johnson City, Tenn.  – Science Hill – M – 5-3

High School: 4-year starter at Science Hill High School. Helped lead her team to an appearance at State for the first time in 20 years in 2017 before making another trip to State in 2019 and a Regionals appearance in 2018. Went to the National's President's Cup in 2017 while being a part of the FC Dallas Tri and Tri-Cities United teams. Obtained a plethora of individual awards over her HS career with the notion of Big 7 Midfielder of the Year and All-Tournament, All-District in 2019; All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region along with Midfielder of the Year in 2018, and being named to the National President's Cup Top 18 in 2017 and Team MVP in 2016. Finished her career with a total of 25 goals and 18 assists over the last two years.

Personal: Held a 4.0 GPA all throughout High School. Member of the National Society of High School Scholars from 2018 till graduating in 2020. Daughter of Keith and Tracy Fields. Majoring in Biology with a focus on a pre-professional route at Carson-Newman.

Trystan Wepking – Nolensville, Tenn. – Nolensville – D – 5-3

High School: Captain of High School soccer team her Sophomore and Senior year. Guided the team to being Regional Champions and State Runner-Up in her senior season. Helped lead her team to being District and Region Champions before being a State semi-finalist during her Junior year. Obtained various personal accomplishments in her senior year including being named District Player of the Year, being nominated for Tennessean Girls Soccer Player of the Year, while also being named to the Tennessee All-Star Team. Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Year in the District during her sophomore year.  

Personal: Daughter of Phil Wepking and intends to major in Education at Carson-Newman. Held a position in the National Honors Society, Math Honors Society, and had an AP Diploma designation during high school. Sister, Madison, is a Cheerleader at Univ of Missouri and father, Phil, was a Cheerleader at Univ of Cincinnati

Jenna Rehm – Old Hickory, Tenn. – Mt. Juliet – GK – 5-5

High School: Dual sport athlete for Mt. Juliet High School, competing on the Soccer and Sailing teams. Helped her team to a 2nd place finish in the District Tournament during the 2019 season where she amassed a total of 8 goals and 7 assists. Was named to the 1st Team All Divison Team in 2019. 

Personal: Daughter of Kelley Severns and intends to major in Engineering at Carson-Newman.
