Eagles earn USC Academic Award for a fifth-consecutive season

United Soccer Coaches release

Kansas City, MO.— The Carson-Newman women's soccer program has earned a Women's Team Academic Award for the fifth straight year following the United Soccer Coaches announcement on Thursday afternoon.

A total of 602 soccer teams (220 men, 382 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year.

One of the 382 women's teams was Carson-Newman, posting a team grade point average, GPA, of 3.54. This is the fifth straight year under Coach Duffy that the Eagles have been recognized. The Eagles also were recognized for their efforts in the 2019-20 season, posting the same GPA under Duffy.

Carson-Newman was recognized alongside fellow South Atlantic Conference women's teams of Anderson, Coker, and Lenoir-Rhyne.

"We set standards for the team on and off the field, and having the team achieve such an award like this for not only one but five straight years is a glimpse of what we strive for at Mossy Creek," said Duffy. "I saw some of the other schools on this list had put their releases out and for us to be a part of it again, I couldn't be prouder."
