Comeback of the Year
Women's Basketball v. Anderson
Carson-Newman battled back to beat Anderson 70-68 on Dec. 4 after trailing by a dozen at halftime thanks to a 28-12 third quarter. It was the biggest halftime deficit overcome since March 2, 2019 when the Orange and Blue were behind by 14 at halftime to Newberry. The Lady Eagles outscored the Wolves 22-7 in the third and held on to win 63-61.
Women's Soccer v. Tusculum
After falling behind 1-0 in the 15th minute, Carson-Newman responded with an equalizer in the 56th minute on a Savannah Fields knock. The momentum continued rocking back-and-forth between the two sides for the next twenty minutes of gameplay as neither side was able to break apart and score the go-ahead goal. That was until the 85th minute when C-N finally had a breakthrough off a timely corner awarded to the Eagles. It was the sophomore Abbie Zander who set up the ball and sent it into the box in an attempt to use the present height difference for C-N as the ball found the head of Heiniger before dropping right in front of the Tusculum defense. From there, it was Kuper who took the chance and poked the ball into the back of the net, giving C-N the 2-1 advantage
Women's Basketball at Newberry
Trailing by eight points after three quarters, Carson-Newman scored the first six points of the fourth and outscored Newberry 28-16 over the final 10 minutes to secure a 77-73 comeback victory over the Wolves. The Orange and Blue forced 14 turnovers in the final 10 minutes and finished with 25 points off of giveaways and went 11-for-15 at the free-throw line in the fourth to win the game.
