Carson-Newman’s Sara Little Named South Atlantic Conference Softball Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior first baseman Sara Little has been named South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

The Calhoun, Ga., native went 5-for-6 in C-N’s only outing last week against Lees-McRae on Sunday with two home runs and six RBI. The Lady Eagles swept the Lady Bobcats by scores of 8-0 and 9-0.

The 2009 Food Lion SAC Tournament Champions and NCAA Division II Southeast Super Region finalists are off to a 2-0 start this season and are picked to win the league for the 14th time in 2010.

Wingate's Allison Smith received league pitcher of the week honors, going 2-0 with a no-hitter in her 2010 debut. She posted a .50 ERA, while striking out 18 against six hits and five walks.

The South Atlantic Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week are voted on by the staff of the league office.
