Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles dropped their South Atlantic Conference opener to visiting Brevard on Wednesday afternoon, 8-1.
The Lady Eagles only point of the day came at No. 22 singles as freshman Erin Green (Lexington, S.C.) beat L. Hostetter of Brevard in a tight three-set match.
The Lady Eagles came close to winning two other singles matches only to come up short in third-set tie breaks.
Brevard won all three doubles matches including a close match at No. 3 doubles.
The Lady Eagles are now 2-3 overall and 0-1 in SAC play. Next up for the Lady Eagles is Covenant College on March 15 at 4 p.m. in Jefferson City.
