Eagles Dominate Mountain Lions to Close Regular Season, Earning Tenth Win

MARS HILL, NC – Playing its fourth and final match of this week and the regular season, Carson-Newman (10-7, 8-4 SAC) took its third-consecutive win to close the season on a high note, defeating Mars Hill (0-17, 0-11 SAC), 6-1.

"I'm glad we have a day off tomorrow," head coach Jon Parker said. "We need it. Overall, we are ready for the SAC tournament. We are in great condition."

The Eagles looked strong in singles play, taking five of six from the Mountain Lions. Four of the five wins came in straight sets, with Leah McBride and Suryanshi earning clean sweeps, not surrendering a game. Sindija Manovska also earned a big win in three sets, while Natasha Forrest dominated in the No. 1 spot with little resistance, and Julia Speiser won a pro set in No. 6 singles.

No. 4: Leah McBride (C-N) def. Lauren Schave (MHU), 6-0/6-0

No. 5: Sindija Manovska (C-N) def. Lilah Dean (MHU), 7-5/5-7/10-7

No. 6: Julia Speiser (C-N) def. Gracie Arrowood (MHU), 8-7

C-N took the point in dominant fashion in doubles, winning all three matches. It was an impressive showing from the Eagle duos, winning each set by three games or more.

No. 2: McBride/Suryanshi (C-N) def. Dean/Razzetta (MHU), 6-3

No. 3: Speiser/Chornei (C-N) def. Schave/Arrowood (MHU), 6-1

With the win, C-N has more than doubled its win total from last year, earning its tenth of the season under first-year head coach Jon Parker. With the regular season concluded, the Eagles' focus shifts to the SAC Tournament, starting on Thursday.
