Eagles Fall to Saints in Tight Conference Battle

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (2-4, 0-2 SAC) fell short against Limestone (8-3, 2-1 SAC) on Sunday afternoon, dropping the match 4-3.

In singles, the Saints won four of the six matches to clinch the victory despite valiant three-set efforts from Natasha Forrest and Anita Chornei. Despite the loss, Summer Reeves and Suryanshi earned wins in No. 3 and 4 singles.

No. 1: Monika Temkova (LU) def. Natasha Forrest (C-N), 2-6/6-4/6-1

No. 2: Anamaria Kiszner-Luca (LU) def. Anita Chornei (C-N), 7-5/6-0

No. 3: Summer Reeves (C-N) def. Anastasia Khriapko (LU), 6-1/6-4

No. 4: Suryanshi (C-N) def. Camila Molina Barranco (LU), 6-1/6-2

No. 5: Galilea Amavizca (LU) def. Sindija Manovska (C-N), 6-2/6-4

No. 6: Sara Valentini (LU) def. Leah McBride (C-N), 3-6/7-6 (7-4)/7-5

The Eagles secured the point in doubles with wins in the No. 1 and 3 slots. Both of C-N's doubles wins came in tiebreaker fashion.

The Eagles will take a few days to regroup before heading to Catawba for a matchup with the Indians on Friday.
