A Quartet of Eagles named to the All-SAC teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference released its all-conference teams on Wednesday morning and Ali Harris (Crossville, Tenn.), Jill Corsato-Owsianka (Germany), Alisa Liashova (Ukraine) and Klara Vuckovic (Germany) all made the list.

Corsato-Owsianka was name to the honorable mention singles list for her efforts this season on the court. The junior went 10-7 overall this season and 7-4 in conference play. Corsato-Owsianka was 3-5 at the No.2 singles position, but moved down to No.3 singles and finished with a 7-2 record in that position. The German native had a five-match winning streak from March 24 –April 8. This is the second post season honor for Corsato-Owsianka in her career.

"Jill struggled with nagging injuries for most of the season." Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said, "That slowed her down some but she managed to finish the season well."

Harris was also named to the honorable mention singles list for her efforts on the courts this season. The sophomore went 6-11 and 5-6 in conference play at the No. 1 singles position for the Eagles this season. This is the second postseason honor for the sophomore from Crossville.

Liashova and Vuckovic were named to the honorable mention doubles list for their play on the courts this season. The freshman duo went 12-3 overall on the season and 9-2 within conference play at the No.2 position for the Eagles. The tandem's longest winning streak reached six-matches this season from March 19-April 1.

"They kind of came out of nowhere to be a solid doubles team." Love said, "Both were inexperienced playing doubles together but continued to get better each match.  They communicated well and each has a competitive spirit.  They fed off of each other and became a tough doubles team."

The Carson-Newman women's tennis team is playing Anderson in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament at 1 p.m. on April 20, in Rock Hill, S.C.
