JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Led by two-time All-Sac senior Erin Edwards, Carson-Newman rolled to a three set to none win over the Limestone Saints Saturday afternoon inside Holt Fieldhouse.

Coming off of a Friday night postponement, the Eagles were looking to put together back to back wins for the first time since September 14th and September 17th when they took down LMU and Christian Brothers.

Carson-Newman drew first blood in each set on Saturday afternoon. In set one, the Eagles went up three to nothing before Limestone rattled off four unanswered to take the lead. Carson-Newman would eventually pull away in set one, taking it by a final of 25-12. Set two saw the Eagles and Saints go punch for punch until late in the set when a block from Blake Cherry and Taylor Keeran put Carson-Newman up 7-12. The Eagles would pull away and seal the deal in set two when a kill from Cherry would send it to set point, and a following service error would give the second set to Carson-Newman. The third and final set never saw Carson-Newman trail, as a kill from Blake Cherry would get the scoring started for the Eagles. The set and match would conclude with a Taylor Keeran and Abbey Hildenbrand.

"We're trying to get into a rythm and we're trying to find some consistency on the court," Carson-Newman coach Ashley Tiernan said. "It meant a lot that we pulled the win out today headed into next week and we learn and grow and keep moving forward."

Senior Erin Edwards led the way today for the Eagles with nine total kills on 18 total attacks for a .389 kill percentage.

"It feels good," Edwards said. "We've been working in practice, working on games of five, because we tend to lose focus especially in these kind of games where we can really get an easy gap from the other team. These next couple of weeks are definitely gonna bring some tougher games. So this momentum is great to have and we hope to keep it going."

Freshman Blake Cherry was right behind Edwards with eight total kills on 20 total attacks for a .300 kill percentage. Taylor Keeran tallied seven kills on 17 total attacks, good enough for a .294 kill percentage.

Carson-Newman finished the day with 38 total kills with only eleven errors on 99 total attacks. The Eagles tallied 42 digs on Saturday with Hayden Barton leading the way with 10.

Limestone was only able to put together 27 total kills on 93 total attacks. Josie Curran lead the saints with eight kills.

The Eagles return to action next weekend as a two day road trip takes them to Coker and Wingate.
