Eagles remain an ITA top 40 program, dropping three spots

TEMPE, Ariz. – As the 2022 season rolls on, Carson-Newman men's tennis continues to be in the latest ITA Top 50. This marks seven straight weeks for the Orange and Blue have been slotted in the rankings, dropping three spots to 36th in the newest release.

C-N (14-8, 8-4) wrapped up their 2022 regular season last week, losing to Anderson by a final of 4-3 before capturing a Senior Day sweep over Catawba last Saturday.

Meanwhile, C-N freshman Marnix Van Dalen (Netherlands) continues to move up in the latest ITA singles rankings, moving up two spots from last week to 41st. In his debut spring campaign, Van Dalen has gone 12-9 with a mark of 8-4 over SAC competition. In his last 10 matches, the freshman went 6-4.

Queen's Edorado Bottino remains the highest ranked SAC men's singles player, coming in at number 24 for the April 21 poll. Following Bottino is Van Dalen, Florian Walcher of Wingate at 46th, and Lenoir-Rhyne's Rhodri Atkinson at 53rd.

As the latest team rankings come out, it is the Queens (N.C.) Royals leading the way for all SAC men's programs as they sit at 18th followed closely by the Anderson Trojans at 19th. The other SAC programs ranked in the April 21 poll are Wingate at 30th, Lenoir-Rhyne at 32nd, Tusculum at 33rd, C-N, Limestone in 51st, and Lincoln Memorial in 68th.

The Eagles will await their 2022 postseason fate as they look to see if they qualify for the 2022 NCAA Southeast Regionals, as the official announcement comes out on May 3.
