Lady Eagles Third After Day One Of The Ralph Hargett Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carson-Newman fired a 330 (+42) on day one of Wingate’s Ralph Hargett Invitational at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation Monday to sit third after 18 holes of competition. The Lady Eagles are five strokes back of second-place UNC Pembroke and 10 shots behind Newberry.

C-N junior Jessica Tarbet (Knoxville, Tenn.) is third overall after day one as she carded a +5 (77) over the 5673-yard, par 72 course.

Freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) is tied for 18th sitting at +9 (83), senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) finished with a +10 (82) good to tie for 21st and sophomore Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) is tied for 25th with a 85 (+13) to round out the scorers for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) also scored a +16 (88) for Carson-Newman.

The tournament is led after 18 holes by Queens (N.C.)’s Camilla Mallberg, who shot a +3 (75) over the first half of the event.

Carson-Newman will conclude the tournament tomorrow with another 18 holes of competition.
