Wade captains Women's Soccer All-Decade Team

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Two-time All-American Lauren Wade wears the captains' band for the Carson-Newman women's soccer all-decade team, released Monday by the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Office.

Throughout the 2010s, the Eagles finished in the top three of the South Atlantic Conference standings six times, hoisting five regular season titles in 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. On the national stage, C-N made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament with a runner-up effort in 2017. That national finalist squad posted the most wins in a season in program history, going 21-1-1. The program's second-most wins came in 2009 with a 20-3-1 record.

The All-Decade team was selected by Carson-Newman head women's soccer coach Simon Duffy, former head coach and men's All-Region player Richard Moodie, and Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier.

All 22 of the Eagles on the all-decade team account for seven All-Americans, 21 All-Southeast Region and 29 All-SAC honors since 2010.

Wade, the Northern Ireland native, finished her career with an abundance of records. She ranks first all-time in assists per game (.60), shots per game (6.20) and shots on goal per game (3.35). Notably, she is third all-time in assists with 24 and goals with 38. She collected a point total of an even 100 in just two seasons. Her 81 shots on goal and seven game-winning goals during the 2017 campaign penned her name at the top for single-season records.

Wade currently has the fifth-most career points in C-N program history with 98 from 2017-18 while also having the sixth-most goals in program history with 37. Wade also sits among the program's top assist leaders (fifth-most with 24), shot attempts (third-most with 242), and shots on goal (third-most with 130) all during the 2017-18 season. Wade started in all 23 games during her final year, recording a team-high 18 goals to go along with 13 assists for a total 49 points. In 2017, she collected the South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the year for the second-straight season becoming just the second Eagle to earn the award in back-to-back seasons. Wade was also the only person in SAC history to score a hat-trick in the SAC title match. Some of Wade's other record-setting postseason accolades include back-to-back SAC Player of the Year, First-Team All-American, and D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year (only player in program history to earn the award.)

Joining Wade on First Team are fellow All-American, All-SAC, and All-Region forward Magda Mosengo while anchoring the defense is three-time All-SAC and All-American Helen Seed. Mosengo is the program's all-time leading scorer in NCAA postseason play with 10 goals and three assists. Mosengo ended the 2018 season ranked eighth in the nation in points and goals. She is tied for second in program history with 13 game winners, fifth in total goals (40), and fourth in total points (100). Seed finished with the fourth-most minutes played in the history of the women's soccer program at Carson-Newman tallying 6,821. She started in 76 games over her four-career which is also good for fifth-best all-time, wrapping up one of the most, if not best, historic careers as a defender in program history.

The pair are joined by two of the most recent defensive leaders for the Eagles in Alex Brandan and Averi Williams. Brandan was an integral part of the 2018 C-N Eagles defense that held opponents to single digits shots in 13 of the team's 20 games, including seven straight. Brandan played 80 games as an Eagles accumulating over 6,500 minutes played, a top-five mark in the history of the program. Williams, the Powell, Tenn. native, turned in over 7,100 minutes played in her time at Mossy Creek, including every game over her last two seasons. Williams missed a total of two games over her four-year career. Williams started in 79 career games, good enough for third-most in program history.

Behind the backline is All-American, All-SAC, and All-Region goalkeeper Jackie Burns. The Cookstown, Northern Ireland native was 49-6-2 in her four-year career with a total of 30.4 shutouts. She currently holds the most wins in a single season in program history (21), most single season shutouts (14), single-season save percentage (0.889), and the best single season GAA at 0.44 during the record-setting 2017 campaign.

The second team for the 2010s holds six All-Region accolades and nine All-SAC honors. Forwards Holly Talbut-Smith and Trenna Howell are the only second-team to be honored more than once in their careers with both landing two-straight All-SAC laurels.

Also in the second team is the program's leader in successful penalty kicks. Lara Hallgrimsdottir sits at the top of makes with three in 2019.

Holding down the net for the second team is Jessica Fraiture. In her debut season of 2015, she set a school record with 19 wins, before First-Teamer Jackie Burns set the present record of 21 two years later in 2017. Fraiture also holds the second-most single season wins in program history at 19, right behind First-Team goalkeeper Jackie Burns at 21. Fraiture currently sits at second on the career GAA list with an impressive 0.89 and holds an astounding career save percentage of 0.764.
