JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Women's Soccer Coach Simon Duffy announced the addition of Jessica Cable as a volunteer assistant coach.

"I just want to give the girls the same opportunity," Cable said. "Hopefully they will have the same experience as me. I had a great four years here and I want them to have the same."

Cable (ne' Fraiture) was a goalkeeper for the Eagles from 2015-18. Despite missing two full seasons due to injury, the Hebron, Ky native played in 25 games, making 20 starts. All 20 starts came her freshman season (2015-16).

That same season, she recorded 10 shutouts in the final 15 matches of the year. Her stellar play down the stretch propelled C-N to the SAC Championship. In the championship game, Cable recorded her 11th shutout of the season leading the Eagles past Wingate to win, at the time, their fifth SAC championship. She did not allow a goal in the 270:00 minutes of action in the SAC Soccer Tournament and was rewarded by being named to the SAC Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team.

Cable owned a 20-4 record in her Eagles career, while totaling up 68 saves. She ranks second in C-N women's soccer history in goals against average (0.89) and seventh in save percentage (0.764).

As a volunteer assistant coach, she will work specifically with C-N's goalkeepers.

"I want to keep them confident and just continue to improve and help get that drive and motivation to always want to be better," Cable said.

Carson-Newman opens the season on Aug, 25 in Cleveland, Tenn. when it takes on Cedarville.
