Eagles pick up fourth SAC win over Lenoir-Rhyne, 6-3

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -Carson-Newman picked up a 9-8 tiebreaker win at No. 2 doubles to take the doubles advantage and the South Atlantic Conference match with Lenoir-Rhyne, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City.

With the wins, the Eagles are now 8-6 overall and 3-4 in South Atlantic Conference play.

The Eagles started strong by winning two of the three doubles matches. 

A strong performance was turned in at #1 doubles by Dusty Davis (senior, Morristown, TN)/Warren McClure (freshman, Marietta, GA) as they started the ball rolling for the Eagles. 

The #2 duo of Austin Mackay (freshman, Oak Ridge, TN)/Derek Holdway (junior, Woodstock, GA) followed with a tiebreak victory to give the Eagles some momentum going into singles.  In singles play, Derek Holdway and Warren McClure came through with straight set singles wins to push the Eagles advantage to 4-1.   

Then Garret Duron (freshman, Woodstock, GA) clinched the final team point with a 6-3,6-1 win at #5 singles.  Austin Mackay scored the last team point for the Eagles with a straight set win at # 5 singles.
