JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (0-1-1) fell to Trevecca Nazarene (1-2) 3-2 in its second home match Wednesday night.

The first goal came for the Trojans in the 37^th minute of the first half when Becky Bartos got on the end of a ball bouncing through the Eagles' 18-yard box. The Trojans scored two more in the next eight minutes. Aubrey Black scored the second goal for Trevecca by taking on two defenders and chipping the keeper. Bartos got the third goal after a miscommunication in the Eagles' defensive line sending the Trojans into halftime up by three.

Midway through the second half, freshman Lauren Morelock (Abingdon, Va.) was fouled in the box and the Eagles received a penalty kick. Senior captain Sam Thomsit (Trowbridge, England) capitalized on the penalty putting the Eagles on the scoreboard.

In the 83^rd minute, Danna Stringle (Woodstock, Ontario, Canada) received a pass from junior captain Sidnee Edwards (Knoxville, Tenn.). She took a touch around a defender inside the 18-yard box and soared the ball past the Trojans' goalkeeper making the score 3-2. "Too little, too late," said head coach Richard Moodie. "We can't go down three goals at home the way we did."

Carson-Newman created several chances late in the second half but could not manage to tie up the game. Moodie said, "We are a young team but we can't make excuses." The Eagles had outshot the Trojans 22 to 13 by the end of the match. Morelock and Stringle led the team in shots with five taken and three on net.

The Eagles face Wingate next on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5:00 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. If 1,000 fans show up to the games, President Randall O'Brien has agreed to skydive within a week of the match. The game can be viewed live at cneagles.com/live.
