"It's really cool because we get in the gym and we work really hard and get better," Locke said. "We have seen that throughout this year. Our defense has come a long way. Our offense is starting to flow cohesively. We want to get in the gym and work really hard."
During a 2-0 week, Locke racked up a total of 31 kills good for 4.43 kills per set while hitting .289 with two service aces and 15 digs.
Locke began the weekend with 21 kills and a .439 attack percentage to go along with 11 digs in a three-set victory over Newberry. The senior recorded her fourth double-double of the season in the contest.
21 kills in a three-set match marked the highest recorded by a Carson-Newman player in three sets since Jennifer Holmes racked up 21 at USC-Upstate on September 14, 2004.
"It really helped getting energy from our team and from our sidelines," Locke said. "We had girls on our team that knew girls on their team that riled us all up and having that energy and having that rivalry between players made it really fun."
In a four-set victory over Anderson (S.C.) on Saturday, Locke cranked out 10 kills on a .143 attack percentage to go along with four digs, two assists and two service aces.
On the year, Locke is fifth in the SAC with 3.5 points per set, fifth in kills per set with 3.02, seventh in total kills with 151 and 10th in total points with 140.5.
The senior is the only player in the league to win a weekly honor twice this season between Player of the Week and Specialist of the Week.
To go along with two SAC weekly honors, Locke was also honored by Hero Sports on September 15 as the Division II Volleyball Hero of the Week.
Carson-Newman has now won three of the first five Player of the Week honors as senior outside hitter Sara Fairley (Charlotte, N.C.) earned the honor on September 22.
The Eagles make the short drive to Tusculum later this evening for a 7 p.m. first serve. Video for the match can be found by clicking here with in-game updates streaming on Twitter by following @CNathletics and @CarsonNewmanVB throughout the match.
