JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Due to concerns with the public health crisis concerning COVID-19, Carson-Newman's cheer and dance teams will move their tryouts for the upcoming season to an online format.

Tryouts this year will be accepted in videos submitted via Facebook Messenger on the Carson-Newman Cheer and Dance Facebook Page, or via email to cnucheerleading@gmail.com

The following are required for the video try outs:

CHEER

Each submission should be one video including all requirements. You should take videos of each individual requirement, and string them together in one continuous video.

Requirements for tryouts are as follows:

1. Introduction video including:

1. Name
2. Age
3. Hometown
4. Specify that you are trying out for the CHEER team
5. Stunt position you are trying out for
6. Upcoming year at C-N (ex. Freshman, sophomore, etc.)
7. List any past experience

1. Fight Song
2. 2 chants
3. Toe touch
4. Choose a second jump

1. Herkie
2. Hurdler

2. While C-N does not have a tumbling requirement, we do have 3 scores you will receive a 0-5 for in regards to tumbling skills, which are listed below

1. Standing back handspring
2. Standing tuck
3. Running tumbling pass

3. Due to COVID-19 guidelines requiring people to remain distanced from each other, we will accept videos/pictures that you have already taken of you performing the stunts requested. Videos and pictures must be current/within the past year. Please specify to us which person you are in the stunt. We also understand if you do not have videos of these exact stunts, or all of them. If that is the case, please send 3-4 videos of what you do have.

In your videos, please wear:

1. A tight fitting exercise or dance top
2. Dance shorts, or leggings
3. Hair should be secured out of your face and not a distraction
