GREENWOOD, Ind. - Carson-Newman's athletic communications team tallied six national awards at the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Publications and Digital Design Contest, finishing with the fourth most in the nation among all NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and junior college institutions.

Danielle Whaley paced the department with four honors, including being declared best in the nation for Video Program/Athlete Feature for her "Do They Know the 90s" video.

Whaley also brought home silver for her men's soccer media guide, bronze for her men's soccer season recap infographic and a fifth place finish for her national signing day motion graphic.  Whaley brought her career CoSIDA awards total to six with the haul.

"It's wonderful for Danielle to be recognized for something that we've know for quite some time now, that she is the best in the country," Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier said. "She and Michael Wottreng continue to be the pace setters in this field. It's a joy to watch their continued growth and development in everything they do here at Carson-Newman."

Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Michael Wottreng brought his career publications and digital design awards total to 10 with his continued prolificness in the game notes categories. He brought home second place finishes in both Winter and Spring Game Notes categories for his women's basketball and baseball notes, respectively.  He has finished in the top two for the two categories four years running.

In addition to Wottreng and Whaley's national honors, Cavalier's Athletics Year in Review was lauded for best cover in online magazine category.  In District Four, Wottreng and Whaley finished second and third in the poster category for their baseball and men's soccer schedule graphics, respectively.

These accolades bring the department's overall national awards total to 23 from CoSIDA in the last four years. Washburn and Christopher Newport University each had nine awards to lead all of the college division, while Slippery Rock was recognized seven times.
