LAY LAKE, Ala. – After one day of action in the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Wild Card event, Carson-Newman has a pair of athletes in the top-100.

Caz Anderson and Storm Cline were able to finish day one in the event's top 35 after reeling in five fish weighing nine pounds and 12 ounces. This is the first time the duo has competed all summer for C-N.

The only other C-N duo in action were Drake Hemby and Griffing Heffington who finished day one in 81st place. After one day on the water, Hemby and Heffington reeled in a minimal three fish with a weight total of five pounds and two ounces. This comes after the duo competed for C-N in Saginaw Bay, Mich. last week

The quartet of Eagles will return to Lay Lake in Alabama tomorrow morning as they look to qualify for the 2021 Bassmaster College Series National Championship from August 12-14 on St. Lawrence River in New York
