Baseball shuffles weekend slate with Northwood

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - With heavy periods of rain expected to pelt the Lakeway Region throughout the course of Friday and Saturday, Carson-Newman baseball has decided to lay down tarp and push back the start of its series against Northwood to a doubleheader Sunday starting at noon and a single game Monday at 2 p.m.

Friday has expectations of 70 percent chance of moist rain droplets drizzling near Mossy Creek and the chances for precipitation rises to 90 percent on Saturday with temperatures dipping to the 40s preventing the two clubs from lacing up the cleats and jogging between the lines for some pitch and catch.

Carson-Newman will now have four games in three days with a visit from Lee slated for Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex. It is the final four outings before the crew starts up South Atlantic Conference play on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24 at Newberry for a three-game set.

Northwood was the top seed in the Midwest Region in 2017 after winning the GLIAC regular season and tournament titles with two All-Americans returning to its roster for 2018. The Timberwolves sped past the program record for wins with 46, 16 more than any other season in school history.

All of the games can be found on cneagles.com/live with free audio and video streams available starting 15 minutes prior to first pitch with "The AEC Countdown to First Pitch" on the Eagle Sports Network.
