All-Phase, Hitting and Pitching Camp Brochure
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The summer camp schedule for baseball has been set by coach Tom Griffin featuring an all-phase, hitting, pitching and catching camp throughout the month of June at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
The all-phases camp is set from June 11-14 from 9 a.m. to noon and is geared toward ages 6-12 and covers baseball skills from hitting and fielding to team defense and bunting. The cost per player is 125 dollars.
The hitting camp runs June 18-19 and the pitching camp June 20-21. They are split into two sessions. The 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. session is for players ages 6-13, while the 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. session is geared toward high school players. Both sessions cost 75 dollars.
The hitting camp will work on all fundamentals and drills for hitting and bunting while the pitching camp will introduce drills and strength training specific for pitchers.
To close out the slate of camps is the Elite Catching Camp from June 24-26 that is available to seventh graders through high school athletes. Day one will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the final two days will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is 200 bucks per person.
Griffin has 25 years of coaching experience at the college level. He has been a catching instructor and speaker at various camps and clinics. Griffin is the producer of "Catch It, Block It, Throw It," an instructional catching video. In 2007 and 2012, Griffin's catching coaching skills were on display as the featured speaker at the ABCA Coaches Convention.
"This is an intense catching camp for the serious player," Griffin said. "It is designed for high school catchers who want to learn techniques and drills to take them to the next level."
Griffin will cover techniques in the camp including stances, calling the game, mental aspects, receiving drills, blocking drills, throwing, plays at the plate, bunts, pop-ups and wild pitches.
