HARTSVILLE, S.C.  – Carson-Newman jumped at the chance for a series sweep of the Coker Cobras on Sunday thanks to a four-run first inning that helped propel the Eagles to a 7-1 victory at Tom J. New Field.

The Eagles rapped together 15 hits on the afternoon, the highest total of the season since they opened up the year at Limestone when they recorded 15 in a 9-8 loss. Sunday marked the 9th time this season C-N posted double digits in the hit column.

Micah Genter (Jasper, Tenn.) promptly got things started with an RBI-double scoring Brett Langhorne (Mechanicsville, Va.) who lead off game three with one of his own.

Cade Snapp (Seymour, Tenn.) made it back-to-back-to-back with a two-bagger that scored Genter, then Goforth collected the fourth-consecutive hit with an RBI-single to make it 3-0.

Snapp added his second RBI in the top of frame two after Langhorne drilled his second double of the day to lead off the inning. Genter's bunt-single advanced Langhorne before Snapp's sacrifice fly to left field made it 5-0.

The Eagles scored twice in the first two innings off errant throws from Cobras catcher Michael Serafin after both Jordan Griffin (Ellerslie, Ga.) and Genter were able to swipe bags.

C-N chased Coker starter Nick Taylor after two innings putting together a total of six hits and six runs.

Dalton Long's (Powell, Tenn.) line was arguably his best outing of the season. The junior transfer from Roane State Community College earned his first win in an Eagle uniform with six strong innings, six strikeouts, three hits and one earned run.

After a leadoff double from Jose Quintana (Miami, Fla.), C-N added a late run after John Sharpe (Franklin, Tenn.) scored the pinch runner Will Findley (Wilmington, Del.) from second to widen the gap 7-1.
