Robinson, Eagles Fourth After Second Round at Southeast Regional Preview

Clemmons, North Carolina - Senior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) fired a, even-par 70 in Monday's second round to take sole possession of fourth place at the 2009 Will Wilson/Southeast Regional Preview, hosted by Belmont Abbey at the par 70 Tanglewood Park Championship Course in Clemmons, North Carolina.

As a team, the Eagles are tied for fourth with South Carolina-Aiken at 593, but lead SAC rivals Newberry (604) and Wingate (609).

Robinson's two-day 142 has him four strokes behind Lander's Charlie Hoyle and Barton's Thomas Muto, Jr. heading into Tuesday's final round.

Junior Chase Conn (Mason, Ohio) and sophomore Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) are both tied for 18th at 148, 10 strokes back. Conn has fired back-to-back 74s, while Ashby carded a second-round 73 on Monday.

Freshman Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) and junior John Minor (Dandridge, Tenn.) have each carded a counted score. Minor's 77 on Sunday and Hay's 78 on Monday have kept the Eagles within striking distance, 13 strokes back.  

The Lander men's golf team fired a second round score of 283, one stroke fewer than Barton, to capture the team lead after the second round. Belmont Abbey, which led by two strokes after the opening round, carded a 292 today, two shots fewer than yesterday's total, but Lander fired a 283 and Barton recorded a 284 to move ahead of the Crusaders.

Hoyle and Flagler's Chris Bray tied for the low round of the tournament, posting scores of 66. Hoyle opened with a 72 and Bray opened with a 73. Hoyle is tied for the individual lead with Barton's Thomas Muto, Jr. with two-day scores of 138 (two under par). Bray is one shot back. They are the only three players in the 87 player field under par.

Barton trails Lander by three shots, and the Abbey sits six back. South Carolina Aiken and Carson-Newman are tied for fourth, while Mount Olive is sixth. Flager and UNC Pembroke are deadlocked at seventh, leading Newberry by seven strokes. Wingate and Erskine are tied for tenth, with Saint Andrews two shots back. The Knights are five clear of 13th place Anderson. Lees McRae (14th), North Georgia (15th) and the Saint Andrews B-team round out the field.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Tuesday.
