INDIANAPOLIS – Carson-Newman has gained its highest Golfstat national ranking on the season with a spot at No. 16 in the latest poll released on Wednesday morning.

Before this week, the best ranking it had seen in the poll this year was No. 19 back on Feb. 26.

This is the highest spot for the Eagles in the Golfstat rankings since Nov. 1, 2017 when they were named No. 15 among all Division-II teams.

Carson-Newman is also sitting nationally in the Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, holding a No. 21 position in the newest edition of the poll that was released last Friday.

It has been just over a week since coach Randy Wylie's crew tied for second at the Southern Tide Classic with a three-over score of 859.

Tom Forster (Northamptonshire, England) led the Orange and Blue with a 12-under performance that gave him his third career tournament win. His 202 placed him in a tie for second on the South Atlantic Conference's low 54 holes list with C-N alum Andrew Hall who shot 202 twice during the fall of 2015.

The junior's finish has him sitting at 10th in the nation according to Golfstat's national player rankings, as well. He holds an adjusted scoring average of 70.8 through 17 rounds of action.

Just one other team from the SAC is in the top 25 of the nation this week, that being Lincoln Memorial at No. 12.

C-N hits the links in just a few short days for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee Tech. That three-day event will begin on March 17 at the Sevierville Golf Club in nearby Sevierville, Tenn.
