TAZEWELL, Tenn. – Jackson Tyler's career-best 5-under round highlighted a 2-over day for No. 21/22 Carson-Newman, landing it a fourth-place finish at the South Atlantic Conference Championship at the Woodlake Golf Club on Tuesday.

With rounds of 282-291-863, C-N posted its lowest 54-hole score in tournament history with an 863, besting the previous mark set by the 2003 squad that fired an 874. The Eagles went one-under for the week with four Eagles in the top 20 of the field. Both Tyler (Wilmington, N.C.) and Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) landed All-Tournament honors with their top-five finishes.

"We had a decent performance," Carson-Newman coach Randy Wylie said. "We hoped to finish higher in the tournament, but we had two really nice finishes, All-Conference Tournament first team for Jackson Tyler and Jake Mynatt, so that was really nice to see them. That was two of their best finishes, so we're pleased with those guys. Overall as a team, we could have done better but the guys did compete really hard and showed a lot of heart, I thought."

This is the third-straight fourth-place finish this season for Wylie's unit. At the league championship, the team has garnered five consecutive top-five results. The Eagles were just one shot away from a top-three outing.

Tyler matched the lowest single-round score of his career with a 67 in the final 18 holes. The last time the senior shot that low was at the Cougar Invitational back in September 2018, also posting it in the final round of action. His 214 on the week also marks the lowest 54-hole score of his career.

Mynatt was the top Eagle on the leaderboard by the end of the event, going 3-under with a 213 that was good enough for a share of third. The junior was 1-under heading into the turn thanks to an eagle on the par-5 5th hole. He was 2-over in the back nine on a trio of bogeys. His 213 marks the second-lowest score among C-N players in tournament history, falling two shots behind Tom Forster's 211 in 2018.

Tyler ended up just one stroke behind Mynatt after making a 17-spot jump up the leaderboard on Tuesday to tie for fifth. Much like his top-five counterpart, he also fired an eagle on the 5th, helping him to sit at three-under through the front nine despite a pair of bogeys. He kept his foot on the gas through the back nine, adding on two birdies with par shots on the rest.

"He'll gain so much confidence for having one of the best rounds of his career and one of the biggest tournaments of his career, so it's just really nice to see that," Wylie said. "He's got graduation coming up in a couple of weeks and he's going to come back for a fifth year and get his MBA and play on the team next year. We're looking forward to him growing from this terrific finish he had this week."

Alex Hodge (Knoxville, Tenn.) finished with a share of 13th at 2-over. He was one shot higher on Tuesday compared to Monday, carding a 75 to push his total to 218. The junior was two-under in the morning with two birdies but tacked on five bogeys in his final six holes.

Two shots behind Hodge in a tie for 20th was Jonathan Nielsen (Hørsholm, Denmark) with a 4-over 220. The freshman was 3-over in the final round with a 75. He was on-par for eight of his first nine holes of the day. His first birdie came on the par-4 10th before adding on another at the 17th but had five bogeys through the round.

Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.) rounded out the week in a tie for 27th at 6-over. His 76 in the finale came with two birdies and six bogeys, pushing him to a 222 total.

No. 5/2 Lincoln Memorial won both the team and top medalist titles for the tournament. As a whole, it was 17-under for the event with an 847. Limestone finished second at 4-under with Queens in third at 2-under.

LMU's Dan Bradbury was the top individual at 20-under with a 196 total. His teammate Luke Harries took second at 10-under with Mynatt and Limestone's Gage Carnes finishing in third.

Carson-Newman now must wait until April 23 to find out its NCAA Tournament fate. The South/Southeast Regional is set for May 6-8 from the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla. Eight teams and three individuals not with a team will be selected for each regional.
