GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three Carson-Newman swimmers finished up the third and final day of the AT&T Winter National Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center with events in the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Breaststroke.

Senior Stephen Parsons (Auburn, Ala.) reset his school record in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 45.01.

"We are very proud of the way our three men represented Carson-Newman University this weekend. They competed and thrived at a national meet amongst Olympic, Division-I and Division-II swimmers," coach Paige McCord said. "They posted either season or lifetime bests and at the half way point of our season, it gives us great confidence for Conference and NCAAs."

Seniors Ben Young (Morristown, Tenn.) Parsons (Auburn, Ala.) competed in the 100 Free. Parsons's new school record with a time of 45.01 placed him 42nd among the best American swimmers. Young placed 55th with a time of 45.24.

Sophomore Kent Eldreth (Knoxville, Tenn.) swam his second-quickest time of the season with a 2:05.91 in the 200 Breaststroke. He placed 66th in the event.

"Competing at this level in itself is an honor and swimming personal bests is encouraging. This platform has been a childhood dream and to see its fruition is a blessing," Parsons said. "As the team transitions into winter training, this experience gives me drive I need in order to achieve my personal and team goals."

The Eagles return to the water next calendar year on January 3rd at Cocoa Beach Winter Meet in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
