Lady Eagles ranked 18th in D2 media poll

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles are ranked No. 18 in the second week's edition of the Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA.

Out of the South Atlantic Conference, only Newberry at No. 11 is ranked higher than the Lady Eagles are in this week's version of the top-25. Carson-Newman and Newberry are the only two teams in the SAC to remain undefeated after four games.

Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Lady Eagles at this point led by junior guard Tatum Burstrom (Maryville, Tenn.) who is pouring in 13 points per game at this point while sophomore guard Kailyn Brooks (Lafayette, Tenn.) and freshman forwards Alison Hodge (Blaine, Tenn.) and Jecca Simerly (Talbott, Tenn.) round out the group averaging 10 or more points per contest.

The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, in its first year of existence. The regional poll is released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday.  Each region has two representatives that comprise the regional poll.  The national poll has 16 voters – 2 from each region.
