Fiame wins NCAA Statistical Championship as toughest player to strike out

INDIANAPOLIS - Carson-Newman softball outfielder Talisa Fiame (Pacifica, Calif.) has won the NCAA Statistical Championship as the toughest player in the country to strike out.

Across 148 at bats, Fiame only struck out just once in 2016, going down swinging during a nine-pitch at-bat with a 3-2 count to North Greenville pitcher Anna Rogers.

Among players in Divisions I, II and III, Fiame ranked as the fifth most difficult player to strike out.

This is the second statistical championship that has been presented to Carson-Newman softball in the last three seasons.  The 2014 team won a statisitcal championship for the most triples in the country that season.
