JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Two former Carson-Newman softball players have moved up in the softball coaching world, joining two different collegiate coaching staffs.

Two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American Elayna Siebert has joined Auburn's staff as a graduate assistant while former pitcher Cassie Lyons is Maryville's new assistant coach.

Siebert will assist Auburn coach Clint Myers, now in his fourth year with the program. Auburn went 58-12 last year before bowing out to Oklahoma in the College World Series.

Lyons meanwhile joins Leah Kelley in Marvyville after a year at Hardin Valley High School.  Maryville is coming off its first-ever USA South tournament appearance with a 25-17 overall mark. 

Siebert graduated from Carson-Newman with the single-game school record for doubles with three, achieved on a pair of occasions.  She also ranks second all-time at Carson-Newman in career triples with 14.  She was a lifetime .365 hitter for the Eagles and tallied 115 RBI. 

Both Lyons and Siebert helped Carson-Newman to a SAC title in 2015. Lyons went 24-16 in her Carson-Newman career in the circle.  She also factored in at the plate her last two seasons, batting .270 with a pair of dingers.
