ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman will enter the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship as the five seed, the league announced Monday evening at the conclusion of Monday's regular season games.
The Eagles finished the year tied for fourth in the league standings with Wingate. The teams split a doubleheader back on March 27, but Wingate netted the higher seed and the designation as the home team thanks to a 9-0 run-rule win over regular season champion Lincoln Memorial.
C-N has won two of the last three tournament titles and played in the title game three straight season. C-N will be looking to extend its league lead in overal SAC tournament titles to 12 all-time.
Carson-Newman will challenge Wingate for the 20th time in SAC tournament play Friday at 11 a.m. from Tusculum's Red Edmonds Field. The Eagles lead the all-time postseason ledger with the Bulldogs 10-9. The Bulldogs have won three straight games in postseason play over C-N while the Eagles will look for their first SAC tournament win over Wingate since 2009.
