C-N volleyball falls in three sets to Anderson

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Anderson (11-12, 4-9 SAC) used a strong attack to take a three-set (25-20, 25-14, 25-19) victory over Carson-Newman (8-12, 2-9 SAC) Saturday afternoon at Holt Fieldhouse.

The Trojans Shannon Gillespie was the only attacker for either team with more than 10 kills, notching 15 for AU.  Gillespie finished with a .361 attack percentage.

Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) turned in another match averaging more than eight dig/set.  The senior libero is averaging 8.5 d/s over the last five matches for C-N. 

Anderson hit .266 as a team to Carson-Newman's .131.  The Eagles got seven kills from Ashley Ferris (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Rachel Harper (Chattanooga, Tenn.).  Kiayna O'Neal (Katy, Texas) added five kills on 14 swings for a .286 hit percentage.

The Eagles take to the road Tuesday to face Mars Hill at 7 p.m.
