HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne (17-, 9-6 SAC) used a stingy defense to hold Carson-Newman (10-14, 4-11 SAC) to a .033 attack percentage in a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-22, 25-14) of the Eagles at Shuford Gymnasium.

Kiayna O'Neal (Katy, Texas) and Sabina Papala (Laziska Gorne, Poland) each produced a team high nine kills.

"I was pleased with Kiayna," Carson-Newman head coach Shannon Mincey said.  "She stuck with our game plan.  I like to see younger players attempting to do what was said in the huddle.  Sabina put up decent numbers too. We are really looking forward to playing in at home Tuesday night."

Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) notched a match high 22 digs.

The Eagles return home to face Lincoln Memorial Tuesday at 7 p.m.
