Eagles break into Golfstat's top-25

INDIANAPOLIS -- For the first time this season, Carson-Newman has made its way back into the Golfstat national rankings, landing at No. 25 in Tuesday's poll from the ratings and rankings system.

This is the first time since Feb. 25, 2020 that the Eagles have broken into the top-25, sitting at No. 22 in that poll. Throughout the 2019-20 season, the highest the group made it into the Golfstat rankings was 17th on Feb. 12, 2020.

C-N has been away from outside competition this past week after its fifth-place finish at the Hurricane Invitational to open the season. The Eagles were 14-over in the event with Alex Hodge (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.) leading the team in a tie for eighth and 12th, respectively. Through one event, C-N is averaging a team scoring clip of 72.96.

The Eagles are one of five South Atlantic Conference teams included in the poll. They are joined by No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, No. 15 Limestone, No. 22 Wingate and No. 23 Anderson. Both Anderson and Lincoln Memorial already have an event win under their belts this year.

Head coach Randy Wylie's team gets back to action next week with a trip to Greenwood, S.C. for the Lander Bearcat Classic. That two-day event starts on March 8 at the Greenwood Country Club.
