BREVARD, N.C. — Sophomore defender Adam Thomas (Morristown, Tenn.) tallied a goal in the 65th minute to lift the Carson-Newman men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Brevard in the South Atlantic Conference opener for both squads.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Brevard falls to 0-6-1 and 0-1 in SAC play.

C-N finished the match with an 11-9 advantage in shots.

In his first action of the season, C-N senior goalkeeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) collected two saves to earn the shutout win.

Brevard's Pauli Jussila finished with one save in the loss.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Wednesday at Lees-McRae. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
