VIDEO: Jennifer Sullivan Postgame Interview USC Aiken 11-10-24
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After her first two games with No. 14/8 Carson-Newman (2-0), junior guard Jennifer Sullivan was named women's basketball player of the week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association and announced on Tuesday.
The weekly honor is the first for Sullivan in her Lady Eagles career. Three-time All-American Braelyn Wykle had won Carson-Newman women's basketball's past five TSWA weekly honors until now.
In her first two games representing the Orange and Blue, Sullivan averaged 21 points per game and shot 50 percent from the field. She was also sharp from the foul line, making ten of her 12 free throws in the opening weekend. The junior guard also totaled five assists and a pair of steals.
Battling foul trouble, the Knoxville native scored 20 points in just 15 minutes on the floor in C-N's 90-64 rout of Lander this past Saturday. She made six of her 12 shots and was 8-10 from the charity stripe.
The next day, Sullivan stayed efficient. She made ten more shots on 20 attempts to score a game-high 22 points in 30 minutes.
She was the leading scorer in both games, for a team that averages the second-most points per game nationally after the first week of the season.
Sullivan and the Lady Eagles are back on the floor when it serves as host to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 1:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
