Lady Eagles sweep Milligan, 3-0

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2010) --- Senior outside hitter Carly Mozgai (Greensboro, N.C.) has a team-high 14 kills and sophomore libero Angelle Hayes (Brentwood, Tenn.) had 26 digs as the Lady Eagles swept a road match Wednesday night at Milligan College, 3-0.  

The Lady Buffs took the first set to the wire, but was unable to come out on top as they fell 27-25. Milligan kept fighting, but fell 25-19 and 25-20 in the second and third sets, respectively.

Mozgai hit .278 for the match (14-of-36) to lead the Lady Eagles. C-N was able to hold Milligan to only .081 hitting percentage to control the match.

Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) had 29 assists and 17 digs. Morgan Rutledge (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Bianca Burnett (Cookeville, Tenn.) had 15 and 12 digs, respectively. Kendra Fiddler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led Milligan in kills with 11.

With the win, Carson-Newman improves to 6-3 on the season. With the loss, Milligan falls to 10-5 overall and remains 2-0 in AAC play.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they host Maryville College (Tenn.) at 6 p.m. C-N returns to South Atlantic Conference play next weekend when it hosts Newberry College and Anderson College in league play. 

The Lady Buffs return to AAC action on Thursday afternoon when they host Virginia Intermont. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
