SAO PAULO, Brazil - I am in Brazil now with my team and am having such a blast. To start off let me introduce everything that I am doing during my time. I have been at a training camp with the Athletes in Action Headquarters in Xenia, Ohio for the past week. During this camp I met my team that I am with now in Brazil and learned about how to truly play for God's glory. Every day during our camp we learned a new "principle" that covered how to glorify God in every aspect of our sport. We would then have "labs" which were basically practices of different games and during these games we were tested on the principle we learned. After the labs we would talk about how the different things during the lab affected us and how certain circumstances would take away from our focus on God in the game. Through these things that I was taught I truly can see God now in every aspect of volleyball. I loved the training camp because it also helped me with my mental game and how to give my 100 percent for God always.
Now my team and I are in Brazil and we are so excited for what God has for us here. Basically Athletes in Action is a part of Campus Crusade for Christ and it is a worldwide ministry that combines missions and sports. While in Brazil I will be competing with my team and also hosting clinics for kids. During our clinics we are sharing God's love with the children. Also we will have some opportunities to share our testimonies which we have been working on at the training camp in Ohio. Today my team was asked if anyone wanted to share their testimony to be translated to these kids that we just met. Although skeptical at first, I could hear God tugging at my heart to speak so I did. I shared a brief version of my testimony and God just comforted me while I was up there and gave me the words to say. I felt so good after getting that done and I feel so much more prepared to share it again.
I am so excited for everything that God has for me and my team while here in Brazil. This whole experience has been already such a blessing and I am so ready for our first clinic and game tomorrow. Please during this time keep our team in your prayers to make an impact on Sao Paulo, Brazil. Thanks.
