Lady Eagles sweep Brevard to cap perfect week in SAC play

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Senior Carly Swisher had 11 kills and freshman Ashley Ferris added nine more as the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles swept Brevard, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play.

With the sweep (25-20, 25-18, 25-16), Carson-Newman improves to 9-6 overall and 4-5 in SAC play. The win is C-N's fourth straight in SAC play.

Swisher capped a tremendous week by hitting .348 with 11 kills in 23 attempts. Ferris hit .667 and added three blocks.

Senior Nikki James added four blocks and eight kills for the Lady Eagles.

C-N amassed 18 kills in the first set to set the tone for the match.

Junior Rachael Bowlin had 15 digs and freshman Kristen Pickett had 32 assists in the win.

Carson-Newman returns at the Beach Bash at Palm Beach Atlantic University on Friday and Saturday in West Palm Beach, Fla.
