JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial's Blaire Fowler (Fort Worth, Tex.) had 15 kills as the visiting Railsplitters swept Carson-Newman in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night in Holt Fieldhouse.
LMU won 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 to improve to 13-3 overall and 8-2 SAC play. C-N falls to 12-8 and 4-6 in league play.
Fowler led all players with her 15 kills and hit a match-high .429 to carry the Railsplitter. She added four blocks.
LMU rallied from a 20-19 deficit to take the first set, 25-23. Fowler had two late kills in the set and LMU took advantage of two late C-N errors to move out 1-0.
The Railsplitters would control the next two sets, jumping out to a 5-0 and 6-1 lead in the each of the next two sets, respectively.
Senior Candice Richardson (Houston, Tex.) added seven kills for the Railsplitters in the win. Brittany Pugh (Farmersburg, Ind.) and Allison Beavers (Tomball, Tex.) each had 16 kills for LMU. Junior Kristen Cantrell (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Pugh each had 10 digs.
On a night where she was honored for her 1,000th career kill, senior Carly Swisher (Fort Collins, Colo.) led C-N with seven kills. Swisher had two late kills in the opening set as C-N cut the LMU lead to 24-23.
The Lady Eagles got four blocks each from Lauren Santarelli (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Nikki James (Cookeville, Tenn.). Freshman Kristen Pickett (Cleveland, Tenn.) had a team-high 18 assists for C-N.
Carson-Newman returns to action this weekend in South Atlantic Conference play with road trips to Catawba on Friday and Wingate on Saturday. LMU faces the same two opponents this weekend.
