Split weekend ahead for C-N

Kieran Showler-Davis Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman track and field is headed to the Lee Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. and Montreat College Open in Black Mountain, N.C., both of which are set to begin Friday, Mar. 22.

"We are really looking to see where we can get the best performances out of our athletes," associate directory of track and field Kieran Showler-Davis said.

The Eagles are coming off a successful first weekend of outdoor competition. C-N track and field opened the season at the LR Bears Open in Hickory, N.C.

"From last week, we are mainly just reviewing," Kieran Showler-Davis said. "We are seeing where can improve and knock our time down. If we've done an event different to what we would usually do, we want to see how that can help us improve in our other events. We had a lot of our 400 runners give the 200 a try for some speed work last week, and the hope is they can guage that to see where they should be in their 200 time during that longer 400 race".

C-N track and field's sprinters and distance runners are headed to the Lee Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. The two-day meet is set to begin on Friday, Mar. 22 at 12:00 p.m. Live results for the meet can be found HERE

"Lee is one of the better distance schools, and really one of the best Divsion II schools overall," Showler-Davis said. "There is always good competition there from a DII perspective, and sometimes there are some Division I school there. We've always had good performances there, and we tend to look at that when choosing where we want to go".

The Eagles' throwers and jumpers will head to the Montreat College Open for a two-day meet in Black Mountain, N.C. The first day will begin Friday, Mar. 22 at 11:00 a.m. Live results can be followed HERE

"The biggest thing I want to see from all of our athletes is progression," Showler-Davis said. "There are also some events that we don't get to see during indoor, so it's going to be fun to watch our athletes get to work this weekend".
