Taylor earns SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C.- Carson-Newman women's track and field athlete Brooke Taylor garnered SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors for her performance this past Friday, Mar. 22 and Saturday, Mar. 23 at the Montreat College Open in Black Mountain, N.C.  

"Brooke is well deserving of this award," head track and field coach David Needs said. "She is the ultimate team athlete, willing to do whatever it takes to help the team". 

Taylor finished first in the women's long jump at the Montreat College Open on Friday, Mar. 22. She finished the event with a 5.56-meter leap. 

"As Brooke continues to develop, we are seeing great results in each meet," Needs said. "I am proud of her, and I know there are bright days ahead, not only during this season, but in the future". 

Taylor placed third in the women's triple jump on Saturday, Mar. 23, marking her second top-3 finish of the weekend. Taylor finished the event with a 11.18-meter mark. 

"Brooke is a competitor," Needs said. "I'm excited to see her take the next step". 

Taylor and the rest of Carson-Newman track and field will be back in action Friday, April 5th at the Fast Break Athletics Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn. and Tennesee Invite in Knoxville, Tenn. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
