The Triggers are an independent league team in the Pecos League. Sharp is the first Eagle this offseason to sign a pro contract and the first since former Eagle catcher Kevin Franchetti joined the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League a year ago.
The Triggers director Kim Schultz was named the Pecos League's executive of the year for 2013. Former Carson-Newman reliever Mike Mullen is also on the team.
In 18 appearances as a reliever in his senior season, Sharp had the most strikeouts per innings pitched as any Eagle on the roster. He was 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA. He struck out 39 batters in 29.1 innings of work with just a .243 batting average against.
Sharp was at his strongest at the conclusion of the season when he tossed a career high five innings and six strikeouts in the Eagles SAC home finale against Wingate.
