CARROLLTON, Ga. – Ellie Haughton (Lincolnshire, England) used a career-best week with a 223 total in 54-holes to land All-Tournament honors in a tie for second at the Louise Suggs Invitational as No. 23/25 Carson-Newman also finishing as the runner-up.

The Eagles posted a mirror score from their opening round with a 314 on Tuesday to close up at 68-over with a 932. That matches the best three-round score for the team this season, a total it also scored at the Low Tide Intercollegiate back in early March.

C-N was over par on 34 holes in the final round with four Eagles carding at least one birdie. Of the eight birdies carded by the team on Tuesday, five came on par-4 holes.

Haughton collected four birdies in the round, the most of any Eagle on the week for a single 18-hole outing.

Every Eagle finished in the top-20 of the field with two in the top-10.

"This was a good result for a first-time event," Carson-Newman coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "We have a lot to work on before conference. Very happy for Ellie this week."

Haughton's first-ever top-five finish came after a 2-over round on Tuesday, the same showing she carded in the first round. The sophomore was 4-over in the front nine before going 2-under in the afternoon with a trio of birdies. She went wire-to-wire from the first to second day for her second-place finish at seven-over.

The next closest Eagle to Haughton was 10 shots back with Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) finishing in ninth at 17-over. The junior went 7-over on the final day with a 79 thanks to a three-hole sequence of a bogey, double bogey and quadruple bogey in the middle of the front nine. She cleaned up the back half with a pair of bogeys and birdies. Both of her birdies came on par-5 holes, moving her to five bogeys on such holes throughout the week. Her 233 matches her lowest 54-hole score of the season, posting that total for a second-straight event.

Hannah Holland (Sale Creek, Tenn.) shot her second-lowest round of the week with a 79 on Tuesday, giving her a 21-over 237 that was good enough for 11th. Six of her eight bogeys on the day came on par-4 holes. Her lone birdie came deep in the back nine on the par-5 16th.

At 14th sat Alice Thomas (Mid Glamorgan, Wales), going 23-over. The freshman carded her highest single round score of the week with an 82 through the final 18 en route to a 239 total. She was eight-over by  the turn of the day on a pair of bogeys, a double bogey and a quadruple bogey. She cleaned up a bit in the back half with three bogeys and a birdie.

Matilda Frövenholt (Öjersjö, Sweden) rounded out C-N's showing on the leaderboard at 17th with a 26-over 242. Like Thomas, she was 10-over in the final round, but she was the only Eagle to go without a birdie on the day.  Instead, she was over par on nine holes, eight of those being bogeys.

C-N finished out 22 shots out of first-place with No. 18 West Georgia winning the team title at 46-over. West Florida rounded out the top-three with a 77-over total score of 941.

West Georgia's Ainsley Cowart retained her top spot through the final round with win at 3-over. Haughton and Columbus State's Victoria Libaak tied for second at 7-over.

Carson-Newman now has nearly three weeks to gear up for the South Atlantic Conference Championships. That three-day tournament starts on April 11 at the Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tenn.
