AUSTIN, Texas- Carson-Newman women's swimmers Kyla Blakemore and Emma Bowling were selected to join the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-America Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, as announced by College Sports Communicators this afternoon, April 23.
Blakemore and Bowling became Third Team Academic All-Americans this afternoon, April 23, joining 30 other NCAA Divsion II women's swimmers in the Academic All-America selections.
Blakemore is a senior for the Eagles from Durban, South Africa. She is majoring in communications. Blakemore has a 3.83 GPA and was selected to join the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-America Team after joining the Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, April 2. Aside from her academic achievement, Blakemore is a two-time individual Honorable Mention All-American this season. At the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships, Blakemore placed 11th in Division II in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a 55.07-second performance. She went on to finish 12th in the women's 200 back in 1:58.96. Blakemore contributed to Honorable Mention All-American swims in the women's 200 and 400-yard medley relays.
Bowling is a sophomore from Montgomery, Ala. who is majoring in interior design. She currently holds a 4.0 GPA. Bowling was selected to join the CSC Academic All-America Team after being recognized in the Academic All-District selections on Tuesday, April 2. Along with her academic success, Bowling became a two-time Honorable Mention All-American during the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships in mid-March. She contributed to an 11th-place finish in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. She also competed in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay where the women earned Honorable Mention All-American status.
