C-N to play host to second annual Race For Breast Cancer Awareness prior to Tusculum football game

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's athletic department is playing host to the second annual 5K run/walk in honor of late cheer and dance coach Christy Bowlin, Saturday, Oct. 7.

The "Race For Breast Cancer Awareness" will begin at 8:00 a.m., with registration at 7:00 a.m. at the Randall and Kay O'Brien Amphitheater on Carson-Newman's campus.  The cost to run is 35 dollars for adults, and 20 dollars for C-N students/runners 18 years old and younger.  This year's race features the Kid's Pass, which includes a one-mile run with C-N Mascot, Talon. To register, please visit the following link.

The 5K will precede Carson-Newman football's Breast Cancer Awareness/Think Pink game against Tusculum at 1 p.m. that afternoon.

The race is in memory of Christy Bowlin, Carson-Newman's cheer and dance coach from 2007-2021, who passed away following a courageous battle against breast cancer. She danced and cheered from the age of three, owned her own dance studio, and coached high school & college spirit programs. Christy was an inspiration, an encourager, a leader, compassionate, & a fighter. She loved her athletes and loved coaching at C-N. Her athletes became part of her family – she prayed for them, encouraged them, mentored them, and cared for each of them more than anyone would ever know. The relationships she had with her athletes lasted way past the end of the season or graduation.
