Female Performance of the Year

Hannah Holland (1st place at Music City): Holland impressed at the Music City Invitational, running away with the individual title. After shooting a 73 in the first round, Holland followed it up with a 72 in round two to finish at 1-over and earn the title, four strokes ahead of Union's Brooklyn Verdugo. What separated Holland from the pack was her first round performance, tied for the best round out of any golfer in the tournament in a round where most struggled to shoot low numbers.

Braelyn Wykle (Basketball v. Aiken): Carson-Newman obliterated USC Aiken by 40 points. Wykle led the way pouring in 27 points on 10-18 shooting from the field and four triples. It was her 57th career game with 20 or more points. Throughout the game, Wykle went on personal 8-0 and 7-0 scoring runs to help the Lady Eagles create separation from the Pacers. She also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.

Lindsey Taylor (Basketball v. #23 Wingate): In just 21 minutes of action, Taylor was dominant, scoring 20 points on 10-13 shooting from the field. 10 of those 20 minutes came in a 1st quarter where she made all five of her shots. The incredible efficiency was paired with a season-high 12 rebounds to give Taylor her third double-double of the year and 18 for her C-N career. The post player filled the stat sheet, adding two assists, a steal and a block.

Blair Cherry (Volleyball vs Wingate): In the highly contested five set matchup with #24 Wingate, the freshman conquered a new personal record of 52 assists in one match. Her prior record was 42, set on Sept. 29 against Mars Hill. Cherry's performance tied for seventh highest count of assists in a five set match in school history. She notched her fifth double-double of the season that night with 19 digs as well.

Trinity Hafey (Volleyball vs Wingate): In her season high performance, Hafey led the Eagles defensively with 29 digs and set a personal career record. She saw time in all of the five sets and also dished out three assists.

Julia Wheeler (Volleyball vs Emory & Henry): Wheeler led both the Eagles and the Wasps offensively with 22 kills and a .211 hitting percentage. With 12 digs as well, she notched her ninth double-double of the year. She also collected one service ace and a pair of block assists.

Blair Cherry (Volleyball vs UVA Wise): Cherry helped guide the Eagles to a three set victory over the Cavaliers at Holt Fieldhouse on Oct. 24. She collected an astounding 42 assists in the three set sweep. Her numbers place her second in school history for assists in a three set match. She also collected nine digs, two kills, and a singular block assist against the Cavaliers.

Emmagrace Cobb (Volleyball vs LMU): A highly efficient Cobb helped secure a five set win over Lincoln Memorial with 15 kills and a stellar .500 efficiency percentage at the net. She saw time in all five sets of the match and secured at least two kills for Carson-Newman in each set, highlighted by four in set three..

Julia Wheeler (Volleyball vs Wingate): Julia Wheeler reminded fans that she is undefendable in her performance against Wingate, where she recorded 27 kills for the third time in her career, a match of the school record set by Molly Locke in 2015. She moved into conference leader for kills per set with an average of 3.65. Her diligent performance that night marked the first time an Eagle has earned over 20 kills in a match this season. She also picked up 26 digs for a double-double.

Taylor Adams (Volleyball vs Mars Hill): Adams flirted with a school record in a four set match with Mars Hill on Sept. 29. She rallied seven service aces for the Eagles, the most from any Carson-Newman volleyball player since Megan Oldenburger posted a program record of nine on Nov. 16, 2019 at Catawba. She posted four kills and three aces alone in set three. Adams also gathered 12 kills, six digs, and three block assists.

Kennadi King (Swimming at UIndy): King placed first in the women's 100-yard freestyle in 51.69 against #1 ranked University of Indianapolis. She earned an NCAA DII 'B' cut for her performance. King placed second in the 50 free in 24.06 and third in the 200 free in 1:54.15. She contributed to the women's second-place finish in 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.57) and earned an NCAA DII 'B' cut for her leg of the performance. King also contributed to the second-place finish in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay.

Chrisman Rand (Swimming at UIndy): Against #1 ranked University of Indianapolis, Rand placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.99, a season best. She grabbed third in the 100 fly in 57.32 in another season-best performance. Rand contributed to the women's second-place finish in 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.57) and second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:28.17).

Katie Smock (1st at ASICS): Smock earned runner of the week honors for her first place finish at the ASICS Invitational, and it was well-deserved. Joining Colten Lee on the men's side, Smock finished first with an 18:18.8, just ahead of her teammate Jenna Pittman. The performance at the ASICS Invitational led the Eagles to a first place finish as a team.

Felicia Frick (Soccer v. North Greenville): Frick drilled a pair of penalty kicks in C-N's 5-3 defeat of North Greenville to open the 2023 season. The first one was the Eagles' first goal of the season to help level the match in the 24th minute. Her second came in the 82nd minute that capped a dominant offensive performance.

Alba Delgado (Soccer v. Emory & Henry): Delgado scored a pair of goals in the 4-1 win versus Emory & Henry on Sept 20. Both goals that she scored help Carson-Newman extend its lead to multiple goals. The 36th minute goal saw Delgado leap into the air to head home a corner kick taken by Felicia Frick.

Felicia Frick (Soccer v. Anderson): Battling to keep the season alive, Frick flicked a beautiful ball over the head of the keeper to send the Eagles to the SAC semifinals. The 108th minute goal also completed a comeback that saw C-N trail with less than 35 minutes to go. Her double overtime goal is the first for C-N since Holly Talbut Smith scored in the 101st minute in a 2-1 win over Catawba back on October 27th, 2018. That being the last time C-N won a double overtime game.

Leah McBride (Round of 16 at ITA Championships): The freshman opened eyes at the ITA Championships, making a run all the way from the round of 64 to the round of 16. Along the way, McBride earned a seeded upset over 32-seed Fernanda Castillo. While her run ended against 1-seed Nadia Meier, her run to the round of 16 forecasts success in the future for the freshman in her first fall season with the Eagles
