Women Finish 30th, Men 33rd, at the UAH Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, AL. - Carson-Newman's women's team finished 30th, men 33rd, out of 50 schools at the Alabama-Huntsville Invitational Saturday morning.

Women 6K

The women's team fell to 30th in the large-scale race with a score of 840. Imke Van Gog was Carson-Newman's top runner of the day. Van Gog placed 77th with a time of 18:37.9. Van Gog has now finished as the best runner for the Eagles in two out of four races this season.

Katie Smock was the second racer to finish for the Eagles. Smock finished 103rd with a time of 18:51.7.

Maggie Hope finishes as Carson-Newman's third runner for the first time this season. She came in 254th place with a time of 20:48.2.

Freshman Ashley Tuell was the next Eagle to cross the finish line. She came in 284th with a time of 21:11.0.

Autumn Brazzell was the fifth Eagle to finish. The Niota, Tenn., native finished 313th with a time of 21:39.7.

Karli Yarid was the final Eagle to cross the line in the women's race. The senior from Morristown, Tenn., finished 355 with a time of 23:12.9.

Johanna Wistokat from Christian Bros University was the top finisher in the race. She finished with a time of 17:15.7.

Cedarville University was the top team, with a total score of 46. Wingate placed second with 105 points, followed by Lee with 112.

Men 8K

Carson-Newman's men's cross country team placed 33rd with a total score of 899.

Graduate student Brent Borden was the Eagles' top runner for the fourth race in a row. The Corryton, Tenn., native finished 141st with a total time of 25:28.6.

Freshman Colten Lee finished 174th with a time of 25:50.2. Lee finished as the second-highest Eagle in his first two collegiate races.

Christian Henry was the next Eagle to cross the finish line. Henry captured a new personal best for the second race in a row, which is an impressive feat considering this race contained 470 runners. Henry finished 272nd with a time of 26:48.1.

Trent Lovelace was the fourth Eagle to finish the race. Lovelace placed 292nd with a final time of 26:59.4.

Will Kolb was the next Carson-Newman runner to finish. Kolb finished 345th with a time of 27:48.1.

Hunter Miller came in 355th with a time of 27:57.  

Kirby Logan was the final Eagle to cross the line on the day. Logan finished just one second behind his previous season's best with a time of 228:35.1.

Vincent Nchogu from Texas A&M-Texarkana was the top runner in the 8K race. The sophomore finished with a time of 23:37.1.

Wingate was the top team on the day, finishing with a score of 53, followed by Lee with 87.

The Eagles will return to Salisbury, N.C. for the second time this season when they compete in the SAC Championship on Nov. 5th.
